Submitter's name: Ian Wilcox
Title: Carrot Infusion
Gear used: E-1 + 14-54mm at 28mm
Diaphragm: f3.1
Shutter speed: 1/20s
Film used: Digital at iso 400
Technical information: Time and inspiration was short this period, picture was taken raw and developed in aperture and resized in photoshop cs3.
Subject information: I have quite a few pictures of empty plates and some nice apple pie, but this one seemed to stick out more. Our little boy can sleep and eat at the same time, here he is just being started on a mixture of carrots and potatoes in addition to his milk. One of the extra holes he has is into his stomach and we use a pump to get the milk mixture into his belly. In this photo my wife is injecting the proper food in order to train him into accepting other foods. I hope the photo speaks for itself better than me.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) This is a very touching shot, mostly caused by the nature of what is actually happening there, but also by the great photographic composition and just the right usage of DOF to render the tube and hand tack sharp, and the toys in the background nicely out of focus.
A great shot, and as a soon to be father too I wish you all the luck with the growth of your little boy!

Comment left by: Brian Swale (no e-mail specified) Parental devotion and care made into a very effective visual commentary on the process involved. Well done !!

Comment left by: Chris (no e-mail specified) Bon appetit little chap!

Comment left by: Johann Thorsson (no e-mail specified) This is a touching picture, and very well done. Even though the story behind it was not made clear to the viewer, the background, slightly out of focus, tells you where you are and what is probably going on. Sometimes it is what you don't see that tells you the most.

Comment left by: Andy Radcliffe (no e-mail specified) This picture has all the qualities that a good documentary photo should have, in my opinion.
It is technically well executed, grabs ones attention and, above all, tells a story.
It reaches both the head (the technical quality, composition etc) and the heart ( the subject and all the implications thereof).
I too found it a very moving image.
