Submitter's name: Hans van Veluwen
Title: Young Seagull (Larus bokeh bokeh ;)
Camera: Olympus OM-4Ti
Lens: Tamron "Adaptall 2" 135mm/F2.5 + Olympus 2xA TC
Aperture: F2.5
Film: Kodak Ektachrome 64
Location: The Dingle Peninsula, Ireland
Date: September 12, 2000
Description: This shot is from my recent holiday in Ireland. While touring the 'Slea Head Drive' on The Dingle Peninsula we encountered these young seagulls that were so tame I was able to make several shots at a very short distance with the Zuiko 40mm/F2 and Zuiko 21mm/F3.5. This one however was captured with the fast Tamron 135mm/F2.5 lens, wide open, with the Olympus 2xA Teleconverter (giving an effective 270mm/F5 lens) at a distance of 2~3m. The smooth blurred background consists of cliffs of black rock with some plant growth.

Comment left by: Charles Packard (packardc@hiwaay.net) I like this compostion. Catching the seagull in mid stride and the way the bokehed(?) rock forms a halo around the seagulls head drawing attention to it.

Comment left by: Ray Moth (ray_moth@yahoo.com) Nice balance and composition. Bokeh is attractive and works well.

Comment left by: Gregg Iverson (giverson@webkorner.com) The bokeh in this photo changes a rather distracting background into a helpful addition to the shot.

Comment left by: Barry H (bhinderks@sprint.ca) Amazing how a little bokeh can turn a mundane subject into such a great shot.

Comment left by: Brian Gray (bandvg@tamaris.u-net.com) Made me look at a recent seagull photograph of my own, and mine is not in the same league. I must try harder!
