In Monet's Garden.

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Gary Edwards
Title: In Monet's Garden.
Gear used: OM-4T, Zuiko 85 mm f/2, tripod. (Probably an extension tube, can't remember for sure)
Diaphragm: f4?
Shutter speed: Pretty slow, should have taken notes. . .
Film used: Provia 100F, rated at 100.
Technical information: Natural light, spotmetered on a flower petal..
Subject information: Flowers (my wife knows what kind) in Monet's garden in Giverny, France. It seems appropriate - Monet, now that is someone who understood bokah! You should not expect to shoot the same views that Monet painted - too many tourists in the frame. So, I concentrated on closeups.

Comment left by: Gregg Iverson (no e-mail specified) Nice composition.

Comment left by: Ray Moth (ray_moth@yahoo.com) This is a beautiful picture. The use of bokeh here is very clever, giving a 3-D effect.

Comment left by: Jay Maynard (jmaynard@conmicro.cx) The flowers march right up to the viewer. Very nice composition, and here the fact that the flowers in the back aren't as much out of focus doesn't detract because of the path they create.

Comment left by: Giles (no e-mail specified) A realy nice smooth progression of focus. I love the composition and exposre that yields dark and light areas, masterfully done.

Comment left by: Lex (lexjenkins@hotmail.com) Difficult to top what's already been said. The blossoms appear to be hovering in air rather than anchored by stems. The progressive softness toward the background is nicely complemented by the varying directions in which the blooms are facing. "Good bokeh! Sit! Stay! Here's a treat for you..."

Comment left by: Chris Barker (imagopus@threeshoes.co.uk) Nicely done Gary. These colours are lovely - and the flowers are sharp... who says the 85/2 is soft?
