Submitter's name: Marko Vrabec
Title: Maja.
Gear used: OM-4Ti + Zuiko 50mm/1.2.
Diaphragm: f1.2
Shutter speed: 1/60 or 1/125
Film used: Fuji Provia 100 F.
Technical information: One of the principal uses of my 50/1.2 Zuiko at the moment is available light photography of our two daughters. With 400 ASA film, you can for example easily portrait kids indoors without using the flash, which makes a huge difference. Regarding the theme of this TOPE event: the "boquet" of this lens is nothing short of magical! Again, I find the 50mm/1.2 extremely convenient for portrait photography - set the aperture to 1.2 or 2.0, and the surroundings, however ugly, will turn into a beautiful, pastel-colored softish background. The effect is pronounced even more because the field of focus of the lens is quite curved - very suitable for portraiture. You ony need to be careful with focusing, since DOF at 1.2 is extremely shallow.
Subject information: My daughter Maja (pronounced like "maya") on her 3rd Birthday.

Comment left by: Charles Packard (packardc@hiwaay.net) I do like informal portraits. The soft lighting and compostion of this shot really make her face and eyes stand out.

Comment left by: Anonymous Visitor (wkato@aol.com) I like this shot a lot; it is very painterly and shows off bokeh well.

Comment left by: Lex (lexjenkins@hotmail.com) Absolutely lovely! And a perfect example of why I'd choose a normal lens if I could have only one lens - it may be the most underrated portrait lens. The catchlights in her eyes are perfect.

Comment left by: Giles (no e-mail specified) You have exploited the traits of the 50/1.2 very well. The softness wide open has been exploited as a strength. A man after my own heart with regard to avoiding the use of flash. A very pleasing result.
