Grave Rabbit

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Graeme Pow
Title: Grave Rabbit
Gear used: E-1 + Zuiko Digital 40-150mm f3.5-4.5 + tripod
Diaphragm: f5.6
Shutter speed: 1/400
Media used: SanDisk Extreme III 2GB CompactFlash Card
Technical information: I used my longest telephoto lens to capture this rabbit, but even then I had to crop the original photo by quite a bit as I couldn't get close enough without the pesky varmint turning tail and disappearing down the nearest hole. The trick is, of course, to set up your camera and wait (and wait) for them to come to you. Shot at ISO 400 and processed the resulting RAW image in Olympus Studio.
Subject information: This picture was taken in the churchyard of St Mungo's Parish Church Penicuik, using some of the many pre-reformation gravestones as cover.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) The DOF is just right for me in this shot: a tack-sharp rabbit against a nice smoothly blurred background.

Comment left by: Darin Rhein (d.rhein@comcast.net) Great job getting this one. I know how hard it can be to sneak up on wild animals and like you I don't have the patience to play the waiting game.

Comment left by: andrew fildes (afildes@people.net.au) Nice one - reminds me of the pie I had the other day. Hint - shoot the buggers first then photograph 'em for the Still Life TOPE. That way you get a feed as well.

Comment left by: jafsc (no e-mail specified) very expressive and bwonderful presence! A very good work. DOF and bokeh are superbes...

Comment left by: The Photographer (no e-mail specified) Thanks, everyone, for your kind words; much appreciated! And Andrew... you're a baaad man (but hilarious) :-)
