Beauty and the Feast

Submitter's name: Ian Wilcox
Title: Beauty and the Feast
Gear used: E-1 + 14-54mm at 52mm
Diaphragm: f5.6
Shutter speed: 1/320s
Film used: Digital at iso 100
Technical information: Time and inspiration was once again short this period, picture was taken raw and developed and resized in aperture. Picture is as is, i.e as aperture developed it with no tweaks apart from resizing and convert to jpg.
Subject information: My wife was gardening and found this odd couple, I took the opportunity to photograph them in various poses, and then let my wife choose the best. She prefered this one as it looks like the green caterpiller is acting coyly and rejecting the brown ones advances as he creeps up.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) I like this picture a lot.
Somehow the "simple" combination of green, brown and white works very nicely.

Comment left by: Carlos Manta (carlos.oliveira@gmx.net) I like the title and the details, well done.

Comment left by: Chris (no e-mail specified) Nice pose and colours -- and great idea. Says something about what your wife thinks of men, perhaps ... :-)

Comment left by: wiliam (wiliam@orange.nl) Simple but very effective shot. I really like your explanation!

Comment left by: Darin Rhein (d.rhein@comcast.net) Great shot!

Comment left by: andrew ffildes (afildes@people.net.au) Now that makes a change from bloody pussy cats and doggies. Great idea. They look almost edible. Get over the anthropomorphism though - caterpillers have to wait until they grow up to go courting.

Comment left by: Graeme Pow (no e-mail specified) I can't believe I'm saying this but they do indeed look almost edible (bleurgh!) I love the colours and shapes in this one a lot. But what's going through the green caterpillar's mind as it looks at the turquoise mark..? Was that me?! (just kidding)
