Submitter's name: Priit J
Title: Pelicans
Gear used: OM-4T, Zuiko 100/2.8
Diaphragm: not recorded
Shutter speed: not recorded
Film used: Provia 100F, EI 320, +2 push
Technical information: scanned by a lab from a mounted slide. Prepared for the web in GIMP.
Subject information: During my trip to Japan I visited Hakkeijima Sea Paradise near Yokohama. These pelicans were sitting on a fence, catching fish that the visitors could buy nearby and throw to the birds. The "alpha" pelican sitting on the sign would occasionally jump down and approach the people, apparently with the intention of intimidating them to drop all their fish at once. At this point a girl standing nearby would interfere, herding the large bird back to it's seat. The sign says something in the vein of, "After feeding the animals, let's wash our hands first".

Comment left by: Darin Rhein (d.rhein@comcast.net) Very nice image! I had no idea these birds had so much color.

Comment left by: Graeme Pow (no e-mail specified) I love the colours, too, and I'm fascinated by their webbed feet. I like the way you caught the head of the Alpha pelican in profile and the head of the other pelican straight on.
