Comments made by the photographer

Name: Charlie Geilfuss
Title: Remember the CFD 9.
Gear Used: Olympus E-500 with ZD 14-45 lens.
Diaphragm/Shutter speed: Unrecorded.
Film: CF card
Technical Information: Shot at 14mm (28mm full frame equivalent) on Aperture priority at around f11 or so to get full depth of field.
Subject Information: On June 18th nine local firefighters were killed in an explosive back draft while fighting a fire at a furniture warehouse/store. One employee had been rescued from a workroom where he had been trapped. A memorial service held four days later was attended by thousands of local people and over a thousand firefighters from across the country. During that time period a spontaneous memorial grew at the site of the fire. I spent an hour photographing the site paying special attention to the personal items left by visitors. This was my favorite.
