Subject information: I was looking for butterflies to photograph when I noticed a large "something" fly off. I chased it and saw that "it" was actually two robber flies (Asilidae) mating. The interesting part is the third insect involved: the dead bee. I presume that the male (left in the photo) captured and killed the bee and presented it to its prospective mate as a sort of trade or inducement for sex. Obviously the offer was accepted. So while she is busy eating, he is busy...... well, you know. Should this have made me think of Walt?

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Excellent find, and very nicely photographed. This is certainly something one doesn't come across every day, and that is precisely what one would expect of Walt's contributions too!
