Film used: Kodak T400 CN (chromogenic B&W)
Technical information: Late fall, wind blowing and gray and overcast
Subject information: I looked at Walt's TOPE submissions trying to find some inspiration for a similar shot. I wanted to repeat his gun and holster shot in TOPE 14 and actually located a gun shop with a Ruger 44 Magnum for sale. But the shop turned out to be way more farther than 500 yards away... more like 75,000 yards so I abandoned that plan. Walt will understand. Then I remembered his shot in TOPE 13 of the house that had burned to the ground leaving only the entrance walkway. I scoured the local area along the Susquehanna river for houses that were damaged or destroyed by recent, severe "500 year" flooding. Unfortunately, nothing left now but totally vacant lots which make uninteresting pictures. So the story went for a few other of my plans to simulate Walt photos. So, since the OM-1 was already loaded up, I went down by the police and fire station where there is a small wars memorial sporting lots of flags that I had previously decided needed a visit with my camera. Then this single flag just caught my attention and I ultimately picked it as representative of Walt... a guy who was about as genuinely American as they come.
