De Colores!

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Graeme Pow
Title: De Colores!
Gear used: E-1 + Zuiko Digital 50mm f2.0 + tripod
Diaphragm: f11
Shutter speed: 1 second
Media used: SanDisk Extreme III 2GB CompactFlash Card
Technical information: I took this photo in my living room, at ISO 100 and in natural light. Despite my best efforts to keep the mobile (see below) from turning, it refused to stay still, so I have some mysterious air currents to thank for the odd/artistic (delete as applicable) motion-blur effect. I processed the resulting raw image in LightZone to tweak the colours and resize.
Subject information: This is a rainbow-coloured Cursillo wooden mobile that I'd hung from one of my ceiling lights.

If there are sad moments in life when everything is grey there are also other moments when we see everything in colour. The title of my photo -- De Colores! (a Spanish expression for "in colours") -- is taken from a song of the same name that expresses the joy of living and exalts the beauties of creation.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) I hadn't guessed this was a mobile, I initially thought you had used some digital effect on it. Nice.

Comment left by: Lesley Fildes (lfildes@mac.com) Serendipity! I think it's lovely.
A friend once took a photo of me then somehow as he put the camera down he set it off again and took one of the ceiling light. So the double exposure came out with my face surrounded by a wicker halo! Which wasn't so lovely.

Comment left by: peanut (no e-mail specified) one of your best and certainly an original
