So, did the fly go into the trap in the end?

Smart alec correction - not a Venus Fly Trap - that's a Sarracenia (native to south-east USA swamps I think. Passive trap, the insects get trapped in the tube die of boredom and the plant gets a feed when the tube dies and rots. It doesn't even drown and digest them. Good plant to grow as it has a nice flower, unlike most carnivores.
