Subject information:	Out of all places to grow, this Poppy (i.e. Papaver) was growing out of a graveyard wall in Curemonte in the Auvergne region of France. The picture was taken on a gloomy day, and the bright red of the flowers gives some hope for an afterlife.

The way the Poppy grows out of the wall is truly amazing: great find! I also like the contrast between the warm bright red flowers and the cold grey walls.

Striking... and appropriate. In the USA, the poppy is a symbol of of those servicemen who gave their lives in the "1st Great War" (WW I).
