Before the Pie

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Mike and Marnie Gordon
Title: Before the Pie
Gear used: OM-2 + CV 125mm f/2.5 APO-Lanthar + tripod + focusing rail
Diaphragm: f5.6
Shutter speed: 1/125
Film used: Kodak Portra 160 NC
Technical information: Used largish aperture to soften the background as well as to keep the speed up due to a pesky persistent breeze.
Scanned with Fuji Frontier which resulted in low contrast with altered tonal distribution. Corrected by the Moose --thank you.
Subject information: After drizzling all AM, the sky brightened and backlit the nicely detailed apple (Mutsu) blossoms.

Comment left by: Brian Swale (no e-mail specified) Amazing texture on the surface of the petals. The background is so smooth that it is difficult to believe it is natural! DOF is OK in the circumstances; soft lighting works very well by keeping contrast down.
