Life after death

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Olaf Greve
Title: Life after death
Gear used: Olympus E-500 + Zuiko 14-45mm F3.5-5.6 lens @ 28mm
Aperture used: f8
Shutter speed used: ?
Media used: Sandisk Ultra II card, set at ISO 400
Location: Snoqualmie Falls, Washington state, USA
Subject information: For this TOPE I had my shot done really early... ...or so I thought!
I had made a set of (technically) very complex extreme close-ups, using the E-500 + OM Auto Bellows + Zuiko 50/3.5 Macro + T28 twin flash + ND flash filters. These pictures kept me uptied for quite a while in order to get the proper lighting and sharpness on the subject.
However... when I went to Seattle, I was posed with a "lovely problem": a far more interesting subject!
So, having taken some pictures of these trees-growing-on-tree-stumps, caused me in the end to swap over my initial entry, even though I then officially violated the timelines a bit...
I hope you guys can forgive me for this, at the advantage of having a picture with a far more interesting subject in the gallery. :)
Technical information: Not much special in this shot, just underexposed very slightly for a more dramatic and darkish effect.
Digital trickery: This picture is as it was shot, and other than resizing to the 800 pixels format, absolutely no edits have been made.

Comment left by: Brian Swale (no e-mail specified) Spooky !! Those seemingly pendant roots which had penetrated under a layer of mosses, now look like haunted stick figures, in the half-light.
