Stone heroes

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Chris Barker
Title: Stone heroes
Gear used: Olympus E-3 and 12-60
Subject information: I was on a tour of the Normandy beaches with some of my students. Here is a detail from the Canadian Memorial on Juno beach. It was taken with my E-3 and 12-60. With its forward stance and broad shoulders it signifies waves of soldiers moving onward, like the sea.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) A very strong and powerful shot!
Especially the completely blue sky, and the angle you chose contribute to this powerful image.

Comment left by: gord ross (no e-mail specified) Thankyou for this one. If Vimy Ridge (WW1) was Canada's coming of age as a world nation, Normandy was our confirmation. Very well composed shot, it is very fitting to the subject.

Comment left by: Wayne Harridge (no e-mail specified) Excellent strong composition, especially with the uniform blue sky.
