I think it gives a very nice "night" feel because the images makes you wonder just what that shadow is and what else is not in sight. I also like the texture of the stones.

I much more like the idea, than the photograph itself (which is great anyway) - as said: the 'night feel'. I would very much like to know the name of the author of that poem.

@ wayne: thanks - the paving was accidental, i was focusing on the shadow, and the light so happened to bring out the texture. unexpected, yet nice, surprise when looking at the photo. @ william & doug: as to the subject, well, care to guess? (been asked if it's a bird's tail...) @ fernando: thanks - the poem, well, i hope you weren't waiting for a big name. it's mine. it was written for someone.
