Comment left by: Photographer (*) Now that I see this on TOPE I think I left it too dark. If you save this image on your computer and open it there with Irfanview or FastStone Image Viewer, then lighten it just a little using the Gamma slider, you should see some more detail.

Comment left by: Graemw Pow (no e-mail specified) Maybe the brightness of my monitor is a little high but I can see plenty of detail in the shadows, and I like the effect. Well done! If it's any consolation I have similar problems with Lightroom when I export my jpegs; I've learned to increase the exposure by 1/2 EV to get the look I want. There's probably a setting or something I've not understood, but it has defeated me thus far.

Comment left by: Graeme Pow (no e-mail specified) Oh bugger! Don't you just hate it when you misspell your own name?

Comment left by: Wiliam Wagenaar (wiliam@orange.nl) To me the subject matter is great but the contrast is a little too much here. On my monitor there is no detail left in most of the dark parts and the pliers are too bright. I can adjust my monitor so I can see the dark parts or the bright parts, but not both at the same time.

Comment left by: Photographer (*) Wiliam, that is why I wrote comment #1 ....

It WAS a very high contrast situation; the main light was from above through a skylight window if I recall correctly. I was torn between keeping the illumination more or less as it was, or reducing the contrast ( in the computer ) and brightening it all up. As it was in the end, it looks as though I should have lightened more ...

Comment left by: Brian Swale (no e-mail specified) This is a historic forge at the Hayes Engineering Works, Oturehua, Central Otago (NZ). Google it to learn some more. It does not have its own entry in Wikipedia.
