Subject information:	Initially I wanted to try lighting a drink with ice cubes floating in it, causing a kind of "hot and cold" effect, but one day after dinner in a restaurant, we were offered shots of Sambuco. They were lit, it was dark around, and I had the camera handy, so this is an opportunistic shot, really. A funny anecdote, is that when I was happily firing away, and concentrating on taking the pictures, I totally didn't notice that one of the people from our party, sitting at the table next to me, had knocked over her glass, setting the entire table ablaze. The semi-panic that followed it brought me back to reality, and fortunately we managed to extinguish it before more damage could be done. :P
Technical information:	Taken handheld without a flash (of course).
Digital trickery:	I tried the "one step photo fix" option of Paint Shop Pro X2, causing the shot to become much lighter, hence revealing much more that it's actually a shot glass with a drink. Somehow I prefer the darker -more mysterious- version though, so in the end I left it as-is and other than cropping the shot to a square format, not a single digital edit has been made to it.

Interesting shot; I presume the blue is the burning alcohol - blue can be an elusive colour to capture; well done.

Very nice effect. The motion in the flames makes the blue even more elusive.
