Cold & Wet; Winter surfing

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Brian Swale
Title: Cold & Wet; Winter surfing
Gear used: E-3, DZ 14-54 @ 41mm @ 4.36 pm
Diaphragm: f4.5
Shutter speed: 1/200
Film used: Digital @ ISO 100.
Technical information: Hand-held. A crop from a larger shot; sharpened in Irfan view but otherwise not messed with.
Subject information: Winter surfing in an easterly storm at the beach just 200 m away.
The surfer on the left is wearing a wet-suit so will be relatively warm.
Even so, the hardiest of them have just quit for a while. It looks as though one surfer to the right of the shot has just ducked under the approaching breaking wave. The seagull above is staying well clear !

Comment left by: Wiliam (wiliam@orange.nl) Sure looks like winter in this shot. Lots of wet wave. Only 200m from your house you mean? Should be you on that board then.

Comment left by: Brian Swale (!) Not me !! I intensely dislike being in water, especially salt water. And I would not be able to cope with the cold temperature; I'd be hypothermic within 2 minutes.
Someone else can do it but I will stay well clear!!
