Early Morning Myrtle from Kardamyli

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Mike and Marnie Gordon
Title: Early Morning Myrtle from Kardamyli
Gear used: OM-4T + Cosina-Voigtlander SL 125/2.5 Apo-Lanthar Macro + RRS MPR used as focusing rail, tripod, MLU & aperture prefire
Diaphragm f5.6
Shutter speed: about 1/15
Film used: Kod Ektar 100
Technical information: This lens is our favorite for its sharpness at wide apertures, apochromatic nature, nice bright VF but most for its excellent bokeh. With images benefiting from an aperture of F5.6 or larger, it really excels.
At smaller apertures, the Zuiko macros are on equal footing. It must be mentioned that per gm, our favorite is the Zuiko 24 f2.8 that is still always in the pack.
Fortunately for this image, the winds were dead calm for a change, making the use of the MLU, aperture pre-fire on the self-timer an easy matter.
Subject information: Noticed the very nice Myrtle specimens in Kardamyli, Greece, likely Myrtus communis (Greek Myrtle) while traveling. They were at their best in early AM. So, located an east facing specimen and set up after first light the next day (before coffee :-( ) and waited until we liked the light.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) I like the nice balance between extremely sharp, and softly out of focus parts in this entry.
