Submitter's name: Mike Mitchell
Title: Joe and Frankie
Gear used: OM-4Ti + Tamron 80-200 f2.8
Diaphragm: f2.8
Shutter speed: 1/250
Film used: Fuji Superia X-Tra Print
Technical information: Hand held, available light, late afternoon.
Subject information: My fishing buddies had met me for a week of fishing at Sardis Lake Mississippi. Joe had come from Chicago and Frankie had come from Orlando. On this day the weather had turned nasty and we called it quits around noon and went back to the cabin. After lunch, we got in the truck and I drove them to several of the access areas around the lake. As we pulled up at Piney Point, the clouds broke and the sun came out just in time for sunset. I took this photo of two great guys that really know how to enjoy life.

Comment left by: Dave Bulger (david_bulger@austintx.net) GREAT capture of the humor, attitude and presumed personality of these guys. If the intent of a portrait is to capture a facet of who the subject *is*, you've done a superb job.

Comment left by: Joel Wilcox (jowilcox@blue.weeg.uiowa.edu) This really takes the cliched format of two-headed snapshot and lets the genuine humanity of the moment come through. Nice how the background draws one to the facial expressions. The hand under the arm of the guy with the broken face is just decisive moment kind of stuff. Wonderful, treasured photo.

Comment left by: Barry Bean (bbbean@beancotton.com) I never would have guessed these guys weren't Mid-Southerners.

Comment left by: Chip Stratton (cstrat@tulsa.com) An enduring image, which warms the heart. The 'snapshot' taken to its highest art form. There is the vague effect of a not perfectly level horizon, but I know how hard that is for me to get perfect, and the DOF almost cancels it.

Comment left by: Susan Steele (DaEyeGuy@AOL.com) A wonderful "Kodak"..er..."Fugi" moment! What a great momento of a fun time with good friends! You captured it beautifully!
