Manic Busker

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Paul Reynolds
Title: Manic Busker
Gear used: OM4 + Tamron 90/2.5
Shutter speed: Around 1/125
Film used: Jessops 400s
Subject information: Life on the street. I dunno what this guy was on but his lyrics were seriously weird!
One of a number of candids I took of this guy a week or so ago. Exposure could have been better.
Addendum: After scanning and sending the first image, I realised that I had forgotten to apply an unsharp mask in Photoshop, which (to me) has made all the difference. I thought the original image looked a little soft - now I realise why.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Wow, you're a daring man. This is exactly the kind of candid portrait I'd like to take, but which I don't dare unless I carry a long (say 200mm) telephoto lens...
Good candid!

Comment left by: Barry Bean (bbbean@beancotton.com) I think the lighting was just fine - but what does the graffiti say?

Comment left by: Anonymous Visitor The graffiti says "Paycheck Slaves", the meaning/context of which eludes me at present.I don't think it's anything to do with the guy though. I think its been there for a while. I have some shots showing the graffiti in full but then detail on the busker is lost, as I didn't fancy getting too close!!

Comment left by: Musician/Photographer (no e-mail specified) So THAT'S what happened to my old guitarist! Glad to see he's still gigging.

Comment left by: Bruce Hamm (bhamm@magma.ca) Fine shot! I am drawn to the eyes in any portrait, and in this shot they give an intense look that reflect well with everything else that is going on in the scene.
