Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Very nice "environmental portrait" (is that what this type of portraits is called?!?).
I like the way one can tell a lot about the life of the woman pictured, just by looking at this one moment captured on film.

Comment left by: Barry Bean (bbbean@beancotton.com) Good use of an exotic setting (unless you're in Bangkok, I suppose). In a perfect world, I'd like to see this with a polarizer, and possibly when the wind was blowing the smoke/steam away from her face. But a great shot. A keeper.

Comment left by: Chip Stratton (cstrat@tulsa.com) Contrast was obviously a difficulty, but it came out well anyway. Might be stronger cropped in a bit closer, to give more emphasis to the woman.

Comment left by: Jim Caldwell (jimcaldwell@iname.com) Great picture! I would crop just a tiny bit closer - it's a shame the steam from the pot was right in the woman's face.

Comment left by: Michael Kjonaas (MichaelKjonaas@aol.com) Very well composed and interesting photo. It tells a story and it's a delight to look at. Intent at her work, she is paying attention to every detail. . .cooking, serving, controlling the boat with her foot. Good photo!

Comment left by: Anonymous Visitor Great Exotic candid! I have to agree with Barry though, and wish that the smoke had gone a different way. Good result considering the natural reflections. Either a pol filter or fill flash may have corrected some. Must be nice having the coveted 35-80/2.8. I assume it's zuiko glass?

Comment left by: John O'Regan (joreg@waitrose.com) Steam notwithstanding, we can see the whole picture here. It would be nice to know the reason for the white face, but it does not hide her concentration on the job in hand.
