Drunken Tulip

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Bruce Hamm
Title: Drunken Tulip
Gear Used: OM-2n + Zuiko 35-70 f3.6 + Tiffen Macro Filter + Tripod
Diaphragm: Unrecorded
Shutter Speed: Unrecorded
Film used: Fuji Reala 100
Subject Information: I was wandering around Dow's Lake towards the end of the tulip festival after a short rainfall. I was hoping to get some shots of the tulip beds, but most of the flowers were already gone. I had not included a macro lens in my kit, but was fortunate to have brought some close-up filters with me, so I tried some shots with my 35-70. This turned out to be the best of the bunch.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Nice composition, and the raindrops make it!

Comment left by: Joel Wilcox (jowilcox@blue.weeg.uiowa.edu) I love it! The lines formed by the edges of the tulip petals create a nice design.

Comment left by: Matt BenDaniel (matt@starmatt.com) Very Nice!

Comment left by: Ray Moth (ray_moth@yahoo.com) The lighting and composition are beautiful. The tulip really stands out well against the background. The water droplets add interest too. If I'd taken this shot, I'd make a framed enlargement and hang it on the wall. Congratulations!

Comment left by: Adam Bolt (boldbolty@iprimus.com.au) I wish Tulips were readily available in Australia. These flowers have the most delicate and interesting petals of any flower I have ever seen. This is a great photo of a wonderful flower!

Comment left by: John A. Lind (jlind@netusa1.net) Very nicely done. The rich colors of the flower work very well with the rich deep green in the low key background and create a very pleasant color contrast. Superb job of capturing the petal texture under diffused lighting which further enhances the rich colors. As Olafo observed, the water drops are the finishing touch.

Comment left by: Mickey Trageser (mickeytr@md.prestige.net) The color saturation and detail in the petals is very impressive. This rivals a staged studio shot. Really a wonderful shot!
