Submitter's name: Richard Keefer
Camera: OM1n
Lens: 50mm 3.5 Macro
Film: Kodak Gold 100
Exposure: Not recorded
Subject information: This iris grew out from underneath a huge snowpile. I was certain that all the bushes and shrubs in this area would be dead from the snow and salt that was piled on top of them for winter. At one point the pile was about 6 feet (2 meters) deep.
Digital technique: I scanned with my hp scanjet and modified the color balance using imagepro.

Comment left by: Scott Gomez (scott@petroglyph.crestline.ca.us) The combination of cool blues and warmer background make this picture for 'work' me. I like the angle of the light across the petals, also.

Comment left by: Matt BenDaniel (matt@starmatt.com) Very Nice!

Comment left by: Ray Moth (ray_moth@yahoo.com) I love the textures and shading in this beautifully framed and composed shot. Well done! I'm encouraged to try harder with my own 50/3.5 Zuiko.

Comment left by: John A. Lind (jlind@netusa1.net) Excellent use of lighting, DOF and critical focus to get shape, structure and texture in one shot. Very nice composition that has it emerging into the frame from the side. Good bokeh; as with many of the others the background has very good color contrast and still maintains harmony with the subject. Nicely done.
