Another great registration of a "small tragedy of life". You've got to feel a bit sorry for the grasshopper (geez, these spiders sure look scary at high magnifications ;) ), but this is an excellent "nature action shot", and it's easily one of my favourites in this gallery!

Comment left by: Arnab Banerjee (arnabkb@yahoo.com) Great shot !! Nice colors, and i like the way the spider and the victim are highlighted against the dark background. What time of the day was it? (yeah - i know you mentioned lunch time ;-))

Comment left by: Chris Barrett (drchrisbarrett@netscapeonline.co.uk) Beautiful colours, and plenty of depth of field means both subjects are well detailed. Nice shot.

Comment left by: chaya (chayas@ix.netcom.com) Great shot. I love that you noticed this. I think it clealy shows what Macro is about. Good DOP to get the detail and black background.

Comment left by: Matt BenDaniel (matt@starmatt.com) Excellent. That is worth publication.

Comment left by: Ray Moth (ray_moth@yahoo.com) You got it just right, IMHO. Nicely composed, frame-filling shot with excellent lighting and detail. Well done! (And I don't feel sorry for the grasshopper at all - if it weren't for spiders, the human race would have been hounded off the face of the earth by our little six-legged friends!)

Comment left by: Chuck Norcutt (norcutt@attglobal.net) I was impressed by this one since I've attempted the same type of shot a few times without ever getting anything close to this good. A great shot. Wish I could say it was mine.

Comment left by: andrew fildes (afildes@netlink.com.au) Nothing common about the spider - lovely Orb Weaver by the look of it. Terrific composition - great symmetry.

Comment left by: Jim Caldwell (jamesfc@gte.net) Great shot - and handheld!! The lighting is perfect and I like the way the subjects stand out from the background. I do wish the web stood out a little better - but that is nit-picking!
