Tulip at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Onta...

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Arnab Banerjee
Title: Tulip at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Ontario, Canada.
Gear used: OM2000 + 50/1.8 + Close up filter.
Diaphragm: Not recorded
Shutter speed: 1/250
Film used: Color Print film Kirkland Signature 400.
Subject information: May time is spring time and spring time is tulip time! I took a lot of tulip photographs with my primitive set of 3 close up filters (to be honest I did not have the TOPE submission in mind and just remembered that a couple of days ago). I was overall happy with most of the results and thus had a hard time deciding which one to submit. I finally chose this particular one as I liked the unexpected black background, I'm sure it did not look like this in the viewfinder. It was a bright sunny day, so I'm sure the aperture would have been f16 or f22. The close up lens was a +2 or a +3 non-Olympus 49mm glass.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Just when you thought you had seen a lot of nice flower shots already, this one comes along.
A very nice shot, lovely black background, nice details, nice colours, it's all there, and then look at the gear used; now who said that one can't get good macro pictures with inexpensive tools?
Great work!

PS: What happened to that tulip?!? It looks like it has exploded...;)

Comment left by: Chuck Norcutt (norcutt@attglobal.net) I love it. A gorgeous shot with the absolute simplest of equipment.

Comment left by: Mike Luks (tiptop@erols.com) A beautiful subject. The petals have a feather-like texture and the exposure looks spot on. A slower shutter speed would have resulted an greater dof, but the picture is nice as it is.
