Technical information:	The camera was suspended upside down between the tripod legs, about three inches (75mm) above the ground, looking up at the flower, to get this shot. Colors were punched up a bit by a white diffuser to the left and a gold reflector to the right.
Subject information:	This California wildflower was growing on a steep embankment to the side of a dirt road leading down to Indian Reservoir in Bear Valley, about an hour northwest of Sacramento, CA. This bright yellow flower is only about an inch wide, so the lens was pretty close. I couldn't see any of the controls on the camera, so I got exposure information from a hand meter and blindly counted off the f-stop detents. I wish I had a longer macro so I could have had more working room. This was one of my favorite shots to come out of the photo trip that day.

A very nice shot. That blue sky is very intense, but it doesn't detract from the subject. That flower stands out and demands attention. Congratulations on a fine photo.

this is beautiful, Barry - one of my favourites on TOPE right now. I particularly like the interesting angle combined with the amazing colour contrast between flower and blue sky. Maybe I should move to CA!
