Technical information:	Shot hand held, but heavily braced in a crouch on top of the subject. Since the surface was relatively flat I could sacrifice depth of field to allow the use of natural light and lack of a tripod. I was not about to lug a tripod on that hike.
Subject information:	Two different "flavors" of Lichen competing for territory on a rock atop Mission Peak (2517', 767m) in Fremont CA.

Currently, the planet Mars is one of the jewles of the night sky as it is the closest to Earth since 1988. This photo reminds me of a shot of the surface taken from orbit. Very interesting.

Pretty and abstract. Also reminds me of a few morning "gifts" from the furry children in my house. Colors here are striking.
