Subject information: River Day Parade in Saltillo, Tennessee September 15, 2001.
Small town excitement for a day. The population probably doubles on River Day with all the people from the surrounding communities that come to see the big parade. Here two youngsters admire the marching band. It was a cloudless day and the parade started at 1:00 p.m. The shadows were terrible but in this case I think the shadows work.

Comment left by: Dan Mitchell (danielmitchell@smarttech.com) So bright it almost hurts the eyes -- you can tell how sunny it was that day without it looking washed-out. The reflections in the ends of the horns on the right are cool, too.

Comment left by: siddiq (no e-mail specified) nice job keeping the camera level..something i end up overlooking with wideangle lenses

Comment left by: Charles Packard (packardc@hiwaay.net) The shadows do work they lead the viewer into the scence. And as Siddiq said nice job keeping the camera level.
One thing I might have tried is to step out into the empty lane between the spectators and the marching band drop to one knee and shoot straight down the lane.

Comment left by: Susan Steele (DaEyeGuy@AOL.com) Oooh...I can feel the heat! Wonderful realism!

Comment left by: Bruce Hamm (bhamm@magma.ca) I love the two kids standing on the sideline. The one little guy pointing at the parade really makes this shot in my mind. Well done.

Comment left by: Andrew Fildes (afildes@netlink.com.au) Nice idea to shoot from a child's perspective - related to the children in shot.
