Submitter's name: Hans van Veluwen
Title: Mozart
Camera: Olympus XA
Film: Kodak Elitechrome 100
Aperture: F5.6
Subject info: Living statues can be seen almost daily at the Dam in Amsterdam. There were at least four performing at the moment. I found this one particularly funny. The building in the background is the Royal Palace (only used for ceremonies - the queen lives in The Hague).

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) I have seen a few too many of those living statues to still find them funny, yet this one has a nice aspect: it matches the colour of the statues that appear on the roof of the palace.

Comment left by: Eric Pederson (epederso@darkwing.uoregon.edu) I like the composition and subject generally. I would have liked the background to interfere less with the statue however. Since you apparently had no choice of lens (XA), getting in closer and shooting more upwards and keeping the statue complete wouldn't have been possible. So perhaps the lens could have been more open to reduce the depth of field.
Alternatively, since the green of the statue is the only significant green in the photo, perhaps you could lighten the green in a digital editing program to help separate it from the browns of the background.
