Title: Left behind
Gear used: OM-4 + 18/3.5
Diaphragm: f8-11
Shutter speed: Auto
Film used: Fuji Sensia II (RA)
Technical information: 18mm is used here to capture a wider view of the scene and tried to be a "participant".
Subject information: This is a photo picking from my trip to China in late-August, it was taken in NanJing. A group of children were leaded by a teacher for a Holiday trip. They were sitting on the last row of the staircase and ready for a group photo, two girls were left behind as the staircases were full or they don't want to sit beside the boys.

Comment left by: Anonymous Visitor I think (well wonder) if a longer lens (24mm ?) would make the temple easier to see in the distance. I like the idea of "pushing it away" but would like it a little more central...

Comment left by: Jamie Costello (jamie-nancy@juno.com) In two of its three parts, this photo works well. The foreground (kids) and background (trees and haze) are captured beautifully. The only thing I'd maybe change is to "rub-out" the teacher w/Photoshop. He's a little distracting. All-in-all though, a really great picture.

Comment left by: Gregg (no e-mail specified) I get a strange sense of are they looking up (sitting wrong) or are they looking down? Kind of like an Escher work. I think the 18mm combined with the unfamiliar expanse of stairs does that for me.

Comment left by: Jim Caldwell (jamesfc@gte.net) I really like this shot, the way the walk stretches off into the distance - just like these young people facing the beginning of their lives. Well done!
