Roasting Marshmallows

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Parzival Herzog
Title: Roasting Marshmallows
Gear used: OM-4 + Vivitar 28mm f/1.9
Diaphragm: f1.9
Shutter speed: Probably 1/30
Film used: Fujichrome 400 ASA.
Subject information: I took this picture on the occasion of an out-of-town friend's visit. We were roasting marshmallows in our back-yard firepit. As is usual when I try to mix photography with socializing, I had an assortment of "technical" problems: flash failing to fire (forgot that the OM4 is not an OM4Ti, so FP mode doesn't work); failing to re-adjust exposure compensation setting on the next frame...

So I was pleasantly surprised when this available light picture came out as I had wanted it to, especially as I just guessed the exposure needed to show both the fire and the boy in a natural manner.
