Submitter's name: Jacob Cooper
Title: Timber
Gear used: OM-1MD + Tokina 28/2.8 + generic flash + tripod + cable release.
Diaphragm: f2.8
Shutter speed: Bulb
Film used: Ektachrome 100
Technical information: Hand held flash aimed at ceiling with tripod mounted camera; locked cable release held shutter open. The saturation was extremely high on the slide, which I tweaked some with PS5.
Subject information: This is the ceiling of the library at the school where I work. Beautiful wood! It's not as red as the Ektachrome thought it was...

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) I like the many lines in this shot, as well as the colour of the wood. It looks a bit like this is Sequioa (redwood), or isn't it?

Comment left by: Roger (robinsnestphotography.com) I like the colors...the composition confuses me. Is the fan the focus of attention? Where do the lines lead?

Comment left by: Alasdair Mackintosh (Alasdair.Mackintosh@ntlworld.com) I think the composition might be improved if you had moved slightly to your left, so that the ceiling looked a bit more symmetrical? As the previous comment says, the colours are great, but the eye isn't always sure which lines to follow.

Then again, something like this, where the shadows from the flash form part of the composition, can be hard to pre-visualise.

Comment left by: Wiliam Wagenaar (wiliam@zeelandnet.nl) I like the lines and the wood, but could have done without the fan and the cable leading to it.
