Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Nice studio shot; good lighting and well posed (this goes for the cats too ;) ).

Comment left by: hnz (no e-mail specified) Indeed! Both posed very nicely (yes I'm still talking about the cats ;) No green eyes either.
Very subtle lighting - did you use a flash meter?

Comment left by: John A. Lind (no e-mail specified) Obviously you've got a studio and have done some portraits! I like how you used a low key black background and were able to retain enough tonal separation between it and her black dress to keep the two from being lost in each other. That's not easy! Wondering how far behind her the background is (well distant?). It draws immediate attention to her and the cats. A high key background would make separation easy, but distract more from her face.

Very good "cat control" too! Many portraitists will not photograph pets (with or without owners). They can be very unpredictable (and leave presents for you on the studio floor). We had to grind one down once with incessant pleading to try it.

Please contact me directly and I will explain how this is done. It is rather easy, actually. You just need a lot of lights:-)

Comment left by: Wiliam Wagenaar (wiliam@zeelandnet.nl) Great shot of the cat lady with the cats all at once.

Comment left by: Walt Wayman (hiwayman@myNRA.com) Extremely well-crafted photograph. You might even say it's purr-fect.

Comment left by: Alasdair Mackintosh (Alasdair.Mackintosh@ntlworld.com) Some people like to show off. Others do something that looks easy and simple until you try it yourself, and discover that it's a lot harder than it seems...

As others have already noted, this is a faultless studio shot, and the subtlety of the black dress against the black background is perfectly executed.

"Beware of jealousy. It is that green-eyed monster"
