Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Nice artful shot. Lovely tonal range and very interesting lighting. I like the way the objects are rendered with great detail, as well as the movement on the light bulb.

Great shot!

Comment left by: John A. Lind (no e-mail specified) Still lifes usually lack "kinetic energy" but the tilt and light bulb are what put that into this one. I like the lighting angle on the objects and the background control to keep it pitch black.

Comment left by: Alasdair Mackintosh (Alasdair.Mackintosh@ntlworld.com) Fascinating shot, with a little more to it than first meets the eye. The vase is tilted relative to the surface, and the cover of the small glass box is off-axis too, which gives the whole composition a slightly strange alignment, but you don't notice it because of the tilted frame.

Normally one expects the man-made objects to be regular and perpendicular, while natural objects are "fuzzier". By putting the flower in sharp focus, and giving a slight misalignment to the glass artifacts, one's expectations are reversed.

Well done.

P.S. Is it in fact a glass flower? One can't quite tell at this resolution.

Comment left by: Wiliam Wagenaar (wiliam@zeelandnet.nl) I kept looking at it for longer than most pictures, but I still can't figure it out. Great!

Comment left by: Juan Carlos Pachon (jcpachon@usa.net) Sorry Mr. Mac the flower is made in korn paper

Comment left by: Brian Swale (bj@caverock.net.nz) The combination of sharpness, translucency, and backlighting make it an attractive photo. It's difficult to see where the flash is coming from, so that's a plus, in my opinion.
