Underground River

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Jim Caldwell
Title: Underground River
Gear used: OM-2n with 35-70 f/4 and T32 flash (bounced)
Diaphragm: f/5.6
Shutter speed: 1/60
Film used: Provia 100F
Technical information: Angled the T32 up slightly to try to bounce as much light from the cave to avoid overexposing the people and canoes.
Subject information: This is an underground river in Belize that was once a sacred site to the ancient Maya. I wanted to "paint" a Mayan temple after dark using numerous flash exposures, but was not able to arrange a tour after dark. So, I had to settle for this one for my TOPE entry!

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) This shot works very well and was do-able, what I mean to say us that the idea alone of having to lightpaint a complete Mayan temple already make me tired :)

Comment left by: Wiliam Wagenaar (wiliam@zeelandnet.nl) Great shot, Would easily accompany an in-depth story of a cave-expedition in NG for instance.
