Slide film was a must. Print film wouldn't have brought out the colours the Elite CHROME would have.
Would have been interesting with Velvia, Extracolour (Elite CHROME), or even maybe Provia 200 or 400F.
Tripod was a must. Via my recent experiences of nature photography especially, handheld shots can make you
a little impatient (sometimes, when there is a depth of field needed and you don't want to use fast film
for grain purposes, slow shutter speeds are needed). I say, chuck the OM on a tripod and see what you want
to see. Change your lenses around, rotate your camera round until your field of view (lens choice) and
perspective allows you to see a particular object(s) that is particulary appealing. This is what I did. I
scanned the whole waterfall and found the most appealing part.
In this particular picture, without the effect of a flash, to expose on ISO 100 film, a slow shutter speed
would have made the water quite milky and the glare 'off' the watered rocks wouldn't have been there. I
wanted the water to have a filling effect from the flash, as it rebounded (from what I think happended) or
filtered through the falling water. It makes the picture look surreal, but actually, it is real and a simple
technique and a bit of hindsight can make a difference between a good and average picture.
