Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Nice saturated colours, and a lovely snowscape.

Comment left by: C.H.Ling (chling@glink.net.hk) Very eye catching color, but the blue looks too blue? Especially at the shadow area, Kodak EBX not E100VS :-)?

Comment left by: Johan (jmalmström@mac.com) I am so in love with snow! And blue. I like this photo very much.

Comment left by: Chung Seow Lim (boochap@pacific.net.sg) beautiful mountain...

Comment left by: Chris Barker (imagopus@threeshoes.co.uk) This is why people live in the North of England... lovely colours.

Comment left by: Mike Cormier (no e-mail specified) Not really all that much I can say to add except that that blue is breathtaking...

Comment left by: Wayne Harridge (no e-mail specified) Can't believe that blue

Comment left by: Anonymous Photographer (no e-mail specified) Well, the sky was very very blue that day (course' the pol. filter hasn't helped, nor I suppose has the EBX.)
It's kind of how I remember it though.
North of England?? Nooooo....

Comment left by: bbbean (bbbean@beancotton.com) Nice shot - I like the saturation. That said, I'd tone down the blue in the shadows a little.

Comment left by: Damon (deewhy_au@yahoo.co.uk) I know why you took the picture - the colours would of grabbed anyone! Your scan is also very good which makes the final result ever more pleasing and sharp. Keep it up and good choice of film.

Comment left by: Jim Caldwell (jamesfc@gte.net) Love that blue! I used a polariser last year in Yellowstone in the winter and took one shoot similiar to this one. I was alternatively praised and condemned for the saturated blue! Nice job!!

Comment left by: Stephen Scharf (scharsfj@ix.netcom.com) I think this is a lovely landscape photograph. I don't know if the film or polarizer added to the blue, but it doesn't matter, it catches my eye every time I see it. The crispness of the focus from the front of the photo to the distant mountains recapitulates the crispness of the snow.

Comment left by: Moose (dreammoose@attbi.com) Brrrrr. Really conveys the crisp, clear look and feel of a mountain winter. "You are there" quality is really eyecatching.

Comment left by: John A. Lind (jlind@spitfire.net) More saturated than I would use (EBX), but that's a personal film choice. It is an effective use of film with polarizer, side-lighting (time of day) to super-saturate the blue which enhances the cold temperatures. Also effective exposure setting to keep from blowing out the snow and clouds, and still keep some detail in the shadows. This is a relatively high contrast scene. I like how the highest peak is slightly off center toward one end and is balanced by the cloud mass on the other end. You didn't mention time of day, but it must have been very early or late looking at the shadows (which helped maintain details in the snow). Wondering what this would look like at the opposite end of the day. Sometimes, if possible and weather doesn't change much, I will shoot side-lit scenes at both ends of the day . . . or at least look at how the light changes the scene's appearance with it coming from the opposite direction.

Comment left by: Roger Wesson (roger@worldtraveller.f9.co.uk) Snow and blue skies is a fantastic combination. This is a great view. I don't find the blue at all objectionable. The clouds in the sky offset it beautifully.

Comment left by: W Shumaker (rlist@zuik.net) The blue in the foreground shadow really makes this shot. Or should I say, the blue makes this shot.

Comment left by: Scott Gomez (no e-mail specified) I'm cold just looking at this. That intense blue is something I've seen myself... at least that's how clear, cold days like this remain in my memory.

Comment left by: Mike Lazzari (watershed@interisland.net) Very dramatic shot and great subject. I like the blue but might have toned it down a bit. And I would not consider it cheating to delete the micro wave towers on the summit.

Comment left by: Chuck Norcutt (chucknorcutt@attbi.com) It looks a bit unreal but I still love the saturated blue.

Comment left by: Mickey Trageser (no e-mail specified) Incredible blue! At half polorization, I can only imaging the sky would be black at full. The contrast between the sky and snow is impressive, and yet the snow retains detail. What is Kodak EBX? Very nice, hangable image.

Comment left by: Still Anonymous ! (no e-mail specified) Many thanks everyone for the encouraging comments and very constructive criticism. There are some truly wonderful submissions on this site - I am quite over awed by the quality.
Mickey - Kodak EBX (or Kodak Elitechrome Extra Colour - bit of a mouthful though !) is not far removed results wise from E100VS (but a lot cheaper!) I use it all the time (at my peril!) Scans well too. (Scanned with Scanwit 2720s)

Comment left by: Jez Cunningham (no e-mail specified) Stunning! I would add a warm-up filter to take the blue out of the snow shadows.
