Title: Toes of the hill take a briny dip..
Gear used: OM-2 + Zuiko 35~105 @ 70mm + tripod + lens-hood
Diaphragm: f/11
Shutter speed: 1/500
Film used: Fujicolor Superia 200 asa
Technical information: The Zuiko 35~105 zoom was used in order to select the exact picture desired that would need no further cropping. I could not have walked further forward or back to get the same result with a prime lens.

Picture taken under some difficulty - a very small period of suitable weather, but not optimum, within the TOPE allowed period. Hence the bland image with full-frontal lighting.

Scanned from a print. I'm not favourably impressed with this 200 asa film.

Subject information: Summer-dry tussock grassland on loess soils clothe old volcanic out-pourings into the South Pacific Ocean.

Comment left by: bbbean (bbbean@beancotton.com) I don't have a problem with the "bland image with full frontal lighting". I like this shot. However, I think a little more saturation, and another shot a minute later sans cloud shadow would take this from good to great. That said, a nice shot.

Comment left by: Chris Barker (imagopus@threeshoes.co.uk) I like this, with the shadow. It is a pity though the telegraph pole in the foreground was not a little more photogenic :>).

Comment left by: Wayne Harridge (no e-mail specified) This has a great 3D feel to it

Comment left by: Charles (charles@mormons.com) Telephone poles!! who plants them things in the way of all the good shots anyway? Great pic, I really like the textures.

Hi Olaf

I don't know what your policy and practice is in this matter, but, anyway.

I was not happy with the quality of the scan I submitted for the TOPE landscape display. At the time I blamed the film (see my comments on the TOPE entry).

In the meantime I have become a little better at using my computer and Adobe PhotoDeluxe (read, Adobe freebie bundled with a Microtek scanner I borrowed once). Last night I had a good look at the very same print I used for
the TOPE, and with a lot of trying, managed to get a couple of OK scans.

This morning, using daylight instead of incandescent light on the print to check real colour ( print compared with monitor) I have been able to re-do the scan.

What I have attached to this e-mail is from the same print, cropped at the same point to get most of the telegraph pole out, BUT the colour is VERY much closer to
the print and the sharpness is also closer to the print. The print is actually quite sharp, now that I look at it in a better frame of mind (meaning that I'm not feeling bad-tempered this time about how it is going).

If this request fits in with your criteria, I'd much appreciate it if you can substitute this copy for the one that is on display.

I realise it is not important to other people how it looks, but it matters to me. Thanks very much.
