Waiting For Spring

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Charles Sdunek
Title: Waiting For Spring
Gear used: OM-2n + 85/2
Diaphragm: f16
Shutter speed: 1/100
Film used: Fuji 100HG
Technical information: I used the 85/2 for the perspective, the mild telephoto worked out perfect as I could only shoot from one spot in the middle of a decrepit bridge surrounded by wetlands and a sinking dirt roadbed. Image was scanned from a print on my Museted 600 III EP, a very cheap substandard printer that I hope to trash soon in favor of a film scanner.
Subject Information: This area is simply beautiful come springtime, and having spent weeks looking for a nice place to make my photograph, and being very disappointed in some I did make, I finally wound up back here where I like to shoot birds and such. I found the place didnt look bad in early spring either, the red bushes and gray trees gave the image just enough color to interesting.

Comment left by: Andy Radcliffe (andyjradcliffe@aol.com) I think that this works really well ! The orange bushes and blue of the sky complement each other perfectly, and I just love the way that the river at one moment reflects the trees and sky, the next changes into that inky blue/blackness at the bottom of the frame.I'd have a print of this on my wall any day - great stuff.

Comment left by: Wayne Harridge (no e-mail specified) Really like the 2 colour affect

Comment left by: bbbean (bbbean@beancotton.com) I often struggle with similar shots at home - this stream is roughly the same size as our ditches in SEMO, and they really are great spots for giving a sense of place.

Comment left by: Chris Barker (imagopus@threeshoes.co.uk) Nice composition. Simple and effective.
