Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Very dramtic contrasts in this shot, nice!

Comment left by: bbbean (bbbean@beancotton.com) Very nice colors. I particularly like the contrast between this shot and the shot that follows. Hats off to Olaf for placing them side by side!

In a perfect world, I'd like a little more detail on the right side. I wonder if some judicious dodging could bring that out?

Comment left by: Winsor (wincros@earthlink.net) Highway 1 has never looked prettier.

Comment left by: Brian Swale (bj@caverock.net.nz) Just like the Eastern Bay of Plenty coast-road views in NZ. Always make you want to grab a camera and record them. Interesting that the curvature of the horizon shows up (g).

The cloud-narrowed sidelighting shows up the sand detail nicely where the little stream enters the sea, and points the eye to that region of the shot, but I would like to see the RHS and lower vegetation lightened up somewhat more to show colour and texture. Especially the lower part where there is already some light to work with.

Comment left by: Chris Barker (imagopus@threeshoes.co.uk) Lovely range of colours, well visualised. But the horizon could do with rotating a little I think.

Comment left by: Wayne Harridge (no e-mail specified) Looks a bit like the Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia (though not really as good !)
Interesting detail in the foreground which reveals itself the longer you look

Comment left by: Xato (no e-mail specified) I like the "Z" shaped composition with a large contrast between the dark and the light. It is very dramatic as Olaf says. I will be up in Big Sur this weekend to see the marathon and will look for this location. PS. I might crop a tad off the top and bottom to accentuate the "Z" shape but it is fine as it is.

Comment left by: siddiq (iddibhai@ev1.net) this summer (may 26 long wkend) i'll be driving up from around newport beach to bay area... any pointers as to where i can stop to take such lovely photos would be appreciated.

Comment left by: Stephen Scharf (scharfsj@ix.netcom.com) Lovely, just lovely. It's so representative of California, yet, the foreground details could be Scotland (parts of California, like Lucas Valley Road in Marin County, really remind me of Scotland as well)
The quality of light is excellent and the composition is strong and clean. I like the nice mix of abstract shapes the beach and the little stream create in the midst of all the landscape. Some may think that the clouds lack color, but this color of the fog rolling in is very familiar to me, and accurately depicted in its blue/gray purplish hues.
